Jim Redington (4-0) pitched
his 3rd complete game of the season and T.J. O'Connor drove in 2
runs as the Outlaws defeated the Panther Valley Black Diamonds 4-2
to up their record to 8-1.
The Outlaws got on the board in
the bottom of the 2nd. With one out, Redington was hit by a
pitch and Taylor Weinman followed with a walk. Brian
Boesenberg sacrificed the runners to 2nd and 3rd. With 2 out,
Justin Slager walked. O'Connor followed with a shallow fly
ball to right field that eluded the glove of the diving right
fielder. His single drove in 2 runs and gave the Outlaws a 2-0
lead.
The Black Diamonds tied the score
in the top of the 4th. This would be the only inning Redington
would run into trouble.
In the bottom of the inning, the
Outlaws took the lead for good thanks to a 2-run error by the center
fielder.
Weinman led off the inning with a
single and advanced to third on a Boesenberg single to right.
Boesenberg stole 2nd to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with none out.
However, Slager struck out and O'Connor grounded out to third.
Joe Abuiso walked to load the bases. Donnie Pietrafesa drilled a
hard liner to center that the center fielder botched and dropped
allowing Weinman and Boesenberg to score and a 4-2 Outlaws lead.
This would be a big enough lead
for Redington who settled down and didn't run into trouble the rest
of the game.
Redington would strike out 2,
walk 2 and scatter 5 hits in giving up 2 runs.
