Tuesday, June 16: Home vs. Weatherly
Outlaws 8
Weatherly 4
Donnie Pietrafesa hit a grand
slam and Scott Price pitched 5 innings of hitless relief as the
Outlaws extended their winning streak to 4 with an 8-4 victory
against Weatherly.
Starter Jim Redington was not his
usual self and was roughed up for 3 runs in the 2nd inning as
Weatherly jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Scott Price relieved in the 3rd
and shut the door on the Weatherly offense.
The Outlaws offense kicked in in
the bottom of the 3rd as they put up 3 runs of their own to tie the
score at 3.
Justin Slager led off the inning
with a single to center. Bryan Boesenberg followed with a
sacrifice bunt. Joe Abuiso and Taylor Weinman walked to load the bases. Donnie Pietrafesa
followed with a sharp grounder to third. The third baseman
went way to his left to make the play, but stumbled and didn't get a
throw off to first. This cut the Weatherly lead to 3-1.
Following a strikeout by newcomer
Brandon Denninger, older brother Dylan Denninger singled to center
to tie the score at 3.
The Outlaws took the lead for
good in the bottom of the 4th. Jim Redington smacked a double
to the deep part of left field. Scott Price followed with a
double of his own to give the Outlaws a 4-3 lead.
Justin Slager ripped a sharp
liner to right but the Weatherly right fielder made a sparkling
defensive play. Boesenberg followed with his 2nd single of the
day to put runners on the corners. Boesenberg then stole 2nd.
With one out, Weinman walked again to load the bases.
This set the stage for
Pietrafesa's heroics as he smacked a towering fly ball to deep left
field for his first grand slam of the season and gave the Outlaws an
8-3 lead. It would be a lead Price would not let go.
Weatherly would add a run in the
top of the 7th but it wasn't enough as Price shut the door for his
first victory of the year. Price would not allow one hit in 5
innings of work, striking out 9, although walking 6.
The Outlaws are now 7-1.
