Allen Township 5
The Outlaws won their 7th
straight in dramatic fashion; a 6-5 come-from-behind victory against
Allen Township.
In a well played game by both
teams, the Outlaws managed to come back after falling behind 5-3 in
the top of the 4th.
Single runs by the Outlaws in the
1st and 2nd innings gave the Outlaws a 2-0 lead. In the first,
Larry Kresge's 2-out single scored Josh Perch for a 1-0 lead.
In the 2nd, Jon Mandile singled home Travis Bisbing for a 2-0 lead.
But Allen Township scored 3 in
the 3rd off of starter Mandile to take the 3-2 lead. In the
home half of the 3rd, the Outlaws tied the game. With one out,
Perch single. He promptly stole 2nd and scored on a Glenn
Iversen rbi single.
Not to be outdone, Allen Township
scored 2 more in the 4th to put the Outlaws behind 5-3.
However the Outlaws continued to
chip away; with one out, James Loua single and stole 2nd and 3rd.
He would later score in the inning on a past ball as the Outlaws
climbed to within 5-4.
Mandile settled down and pitched
through the 5th. He would finish the game with a no-decision,
having pitched 5 innings, striking out 2 and walking none.
Scott Price (1-0) relieved
Mandile in the 5th and retired three of the four Allen Township
batters; striking out 2.
In the Outlaws half of the 6th,
they would tie the score at 5-5. Glenn Iversen reached first
and then stole 2nd and then made it 3rd on a past ball. He
would score to tie the game on a fielding error by the first
baseman.
Price would set down Allen
Township 1-2-3 in the 7th setting up the home teams heroics in the
bottom half of the inning.
With one out, James Loua walked
establishing himself as the winning run. However, a good move
by the Allen Township pitcher erased Loua as he was picked off of
first for the 2nd out.
With 2 outs, Donnie Pietrafesa
reached on an error by the shortstop. He quickly stole 2nd to
put him in scoring position. Josh Perch walked.
Pietrafesa and Perch each stole to put runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Jake Hollweg stepped to the
plate; The Outlaws hottest hitter delivered on an 0-2 offering by
roping a hanging curveball into right center for the winning hit and
a 6-5 Outlaws victory.
Price would get the win pitching
2 innings of scoreless relief.
