The Outlaws ran their winning
streak to 3 wins as they set a franchise record scoring 21 runs in a
21-4 defeat of McAdoo/Weatherly on Saturday.
The Outlaws scored 15 runs in the
2nd inning sending 20 batters to the plate and turning a close 1-1
game into a rout.
The Outlaws took the lead in the
top of the 1st. With one out, Tyler Franks walked, Josh Perch
singled and Jake Hollweg walked to load the bases. Glenn
Iversen walked to give the Outlaws the 1-0 lead.
The Nationals tied it in the
bottom of the 1st as the lead-off hitter hit a homerun to right
field.
But in the top of the 2nd, an
inning which lasted for 43 minutes, the Outlaws scored 15 runs, on 8
hits, 3 batters were hit and 4 walked. The key hit of the
inning was a Jake Hollweg Grand Slam which at the time gave the
Outlaws a 7-1 lead.
In the top of the 5th, the
Outlaws scored 5 more runs, highlighted by a Joe Abuiso 2-run
triple.
Chad Decker picked up the win in
relief of starting pitcher Glenn Iversen who was removed from the
game in the top of the 3rd inning after being hit in the left shin
with a line-drive. Iversen was pitching effectively before
being removed. He struck out 4 and walked 1 in 2⅓
innings pitched.
