Cody Knecht pitched 5 strong innings and Larry
Kresge hit a 2-run homerun as the Outlaws won their second straight
game with an 11-5 victory over Phillipsburg.
The Outlaws took the lead in the top of the first
scoring 3 runs off of Phillipsburg starter Scott Fulper. With
one out, Joe Abuiso walked and promptly stole 2nd. Abuiso
scored on an rbi single by Josh Perch to give the Outlaws a quick
1-0 lead. Perch stole 2nd and scored on an rbi single by Glenn
Iversen for a 2-0 Outlaws lead. A Chad Decker single later in
the inning made it 4-0 Outlaws.
The Outlaws continued to score in the top of the 2nd.
Dylan Denninger singled and scored on a double by Knecht for a 5-1
lead. Consecutive doubles by Perch and Jake Hollweg increased
the lead to 7-1.
The highlight of the night was a 2-run inside-the-park
homerun by Larry Kresge. Jake Hollweg walked and with one out,
Kresge ripped a ball into the left-centerfield gap which the
centerfielder dove for but could not come up with. The ball
rolled deep into the outfield and Kresge was able to trot home with
the Outlaws first home run of the season.
The Outlaws are now 2-0.
