Jake Hollweg struck out 8 and pitched into the
7th inning and Scott Price delivered a 3-out save in the 7th as the
Outlaws hung on for a 4-3 victory against Lower Nazareth in their
inaugural game of the 2008 season.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Outlaws
would score 2 runs to take a lead they would never give up.
With 1 out, Donnie Pietrafesa was hit by a pitch. One batter
later, he would score on a triple by Jake Hollweg. Hollweg
would put the Outlaws ahead by scoring on a wild ball.
In the 2nd, the Outlaws added onto their lead.
With 2 outs, Jon Mandile tripled and would score when Dylan
Denninger reached base on an error by the third baseman to put the Outlaws up 3-1.
With 2 outs in the 5th and the score now 3-2, Denninger
singled and stole second. He scored on a Scott Price single to
right to increase the Outlaws lead to 4-2.
With the Outlaws up 4-3 entering the 7th, Lower
Nazareth put runners on the corners with none out thanks to an
Outlaws error and a bloop single. Hollweg was lifted in favor
of Scott Price.
With the infield in, the next Lower Nazareth batter hit
a hard groundball to Shortstop Robbie Loua who fielded the ball
cleanly and alertly threw home to Catcher Joe Abuiso to cut down the
runner trying to score from third for the first out of the inning.
Price struck out the next batter but with 2 outs, he
walked the hitter to load the bases. Price would strike out
the last Lower Nazareth batter to secure the Outlaws victory.
